The full story
Eight months after Roxxon, Tandy is back at ballet and on good terms with her mother. Tyrone, still a fugitive, lives in the church and robs drug dealers. Brigid O'Reilly survived the night on the dock, but the energy that hit her split her in two. The second O'Reilly, Mayhem, is violent, and has spent the months hunting Connors and the people behind a string of missing women.
Tandy and Tyrone find the gang leaders of the Rougarou Club slaughtered and follow the trail to a sex-trafficking ring. Tyrone absorbs Mayhem into his cloak. Tandy goes into Tyrone's dark dimension and relives her father's abuse of her mother. Connors comes back out of the darkness changed, says he deserves prison, and helps them go after his uncle, Senator Asa Henderson, whose files could clear Tyrone. Tyrone has the chance to kill Connors and hands him to his mother, Adina, instead. She later admits she killed him once she had proof of her son's innocence.
The traffickers are Lia Dewan, a woman from Tandy's abuse support group, and its leader, Andre Deschaine, who got his powers when he tried to kill himself on the night of the rig explosion. He drains people's hope and keeps their despair as records in a metaphysical record store. He kills Evita's aunt Chantelle, takes a crowd of followers including Tandy's mother, and sets out to become a god by hitting the "blue note". Tandy and Tyrone follow him into the Loa dimension and defeat him. Tyrone is cleared, Henderson is arrested, and O'Reilly and Mayhem agree to share one body. Tandy leaves New Orleans, and Tyrone goes with her, to be heroes.
