The full story
As a boy in Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock is blinded by radioactive waste, and his other senses sharpen to superhuman levels, including a kind of radar. His father, the boxer Jack "The Devil" Murdock, goes straight for his son's sake, and is murdered for refusing to throw a fight.
Twenty years later Matt is a lawyer who only takes clients he believes are innocent, in practice with his friend Foggy Nelson, and at night he is Daredevil. Reporter Ben Urich is chasing the story of the Kingpin, the man behind New York's organized crime. In public, the Kingpin is Wilson Fisk, a businessman.
Matt falls for Elektra Natchios, whose father Nikolas has done business with Fisk. When Nikolas tries to get out, Fisk hires Bullseye, an assassin who never misses, and Bullseye kills Nikolas with Daredevil's own billy club. Elektra blames Daredevil, hunts him down and stabs him, and only when she unmasks him does she realize who he is. Then Bullseye catches up with her, and kills her while the wounded Matt can do nothing.
Bullseye corners Matt in a church and taunts him with the truth: the Kingpin killed Jack Murdock. Matt throws Bullseye from the bell tower after a police sniper shoots him through both hands, then goes after Fisk and beats him. Fisk threatens to tell the world who Daredevil is; Matt points out that nobody will believe the Kingpin was beaten by a blind man. Urich, who has worked out the secret, decides not to publish. On the rooftop where they first kissed, Matt finds Elektra's necklace, her name on it in braille, a hint that she may not be gone. In a guarded hospital room, a bandaged Bullseye kills a fly with a needle.
