Erik Stevens is the son of N'Jobu, a Wakandan prince and brother to King T'Chaka who was killed after being discovered smuggling vibranium to arm oppressed people abroad, leaving Erik to grow up in Oakland believing Wakanda had abandoned him. Trained as an American black ops soldier and earning the nickname Killmonger, he traveled to Wakanda to claim the throne and the mantle of Black Panther by challenge, intending to arm oppressed people around the world by force.
