The full story
Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Karolina Dean, Gert Yorkes, Chase Stein and Molly Hernandez were close as children, and drifted apart after Nico's sister Amy died two years ago. Their parents still meet as a charity called the Pride. Alex talks the others into hanging out during one of its meetings, and they find a secret passage in his house that leads to their parents, in robes, sacrificing a girl named Destiny.
The parents aren't enjoying it either. The sacrifice is for Jonah, the mysterious benefactor who has kept the Pride in line for years and needs the ritual to keep his body alive. While the kids investigate, they find out what they can do. Molly has super strength. Karolina, raised in her mother Leslie's Church of Gibborim, glows once she takes off the church bracelet she has always worn, and later finds she can fly. Nico takes up her mother Tina's Staff of One. Chase builds the Fistigons, power gauntlets of his own design. And Gert finds that her parents have been keeping a genetically engineered dinosaur in the basement, which obeys her and which she names Old Lace.
Victor, given a miracle cure for his brain tumor by Jonah, turns violent and attacks Chase, and his wife Janet Stein shoots him. He dies, and Jonah has the body kept to revive later. Molly finds a tape her parents left behind, warning her about the Pride, and a flashback shows that Leslie killed them with a bomb. The kids discover that the Pride is using Geoffrey Wilder's construction company to drill under Los Angeles for Jonah, and on the night of the school dance they stop the drill and show their parents what they can do.
In the finale, Jonah takes Karolina and tells her he is her biological father. The others get her back, set Old Lace loose, and find they've been framed for Destiny's murder. So they run.
