The full story
After his mother's death, young Sergei Kravinoff and his half-brother Dmitri are pulled into their father Nikolai's criminal empire. On a hunting trip in Ghana, Sergei is mauled protecting Dmitri from a lion, and is healed by a girl named Calypso using a mysterious serum that leaves him with animalistic strength, speed, and senses. Disgusted when Nikolai kills the wounded lion anyway as a "lesson," Sergei flees to a wildlife sanctuary in Russia rather than follow his father's path.
Sixteen years later, Sergei โ now Kraven โ operates as a vigilante hunting the world's most dangerous men. When mercenaries kidnap Dmitri in London, Kraven reunites with Calypso, now a lawyer, to get him back. The trail leads to Aleksei Sytsevich, a rhino-hybrid mercenary who wants Kraven's help overthrowing Nikolai. Aleksei hires an assassin known as the Foreigner when the plan turns on him, and the standoff ends at Kraven's own sanctuary with Aleksei's death.
Kraven confronts his father and learns Nikolai engineered the entire kidnapping to eliminate Aleksei as a rival โ using his own sons as bait. Kraven arranges for a bear to kill Nikolai rather than doing it himself.
A year later, Dmitri has inherited their father's empire and gained shapeshifting powers of his own, becoming the Chameleon. The film ends with Kraven receiving a note and a vest made from the hide of the lion Nikolai killed all those years ago.
