The full story
Johnny Blaze is hiding in Eastern Europe, trying to keep the Rider inside him locked down. Moreau, a hard-drinking monk, brings him an offer: find and protect a boy named Danny, and the monks will lift his curse. Roarke, the devil who made Johnny's deal, is after the boy. Danny is Roarke's son, and Roarke means to move into his body.
Ray Carrigan, a mercenary and the old boyfriend of Danny's mother Nadya, kidnaps Danny for Roarke. The Rider tears through Carrigan's men, but Roarke hides Danny with a spell. Johnny and Nadya track Carrigan down, and the Rider wrecks his hideout with a mining machine, leaving Carrigan close to dead. Roarke brings him back as Blackout, who decays anything he touches.
At the monastery, Moreau explains that the Rider is Zarathos, an angel of justice who was tortured and driven insane in Hell. He can drive it out of Johnny if Johnny tells him something only he knows. Johnny confesses that his deal was selfish: his father had accepted dying, and Johnny hadn't. Moreau exorcises the spirit, and Johnny is human again. But the monks want Danny dead, and Carrigan kills them and takes the boy.
Johnny, Nadya and Moreau break into the ritual. Carrigan kills Moreau, and Danny gives the Rider back to Johnny, letting it ride in broad daylight. The Rider kills Carrigan, flips the car carrying Roarke and Danny, and sends Roarke back to Hell. Danny doesn't survive the crash. Zarathos, its sanity restored, is a spirit of justice again, and Johnny uses its power to bring Danny back. When he rides away, his flames burn blue.
